Working together to move county forward

We have been talking about the importance of county-wide cooperation for some time now.  It seems so simple, but yet so important to reiterate the importance of all of us working toward a positive goal of economic development.

As a result, a new spirit of cooperation exists within the county, especially with respect to the Cameron Industrial Foundation, the Rockdale Municipal Development District and the county.  The Amazon bid, which led to Bitmain, Whinstone and all the rest resulted in part from this new spirit of cooperation.

Last Friday the Texas Workforce Commission honored Ginger Watkins, the Executive Director of the Cameron Industrial Foundation; Kara Clore, the Executive Director of the Rockdale MDD; and your County Judge by awarding the The Excellence in Partnership – Impact Award for Innovative Milam County Partnerships that Change Attitudes and Cultivate Talent.   The presentation was made at the 2019 Texas Workforce Solutions of Central Texas Awards Ceremony in Killeen. This was a huge event with hundreds of people in attendance and we thank all of those at Workforce Solutions for the recognition.

We have been working together on many different projects throughout the county to foster economic development.  We have collaborated on many different events and issues to obtain new business and to keep our existing businesses.

For example, we worked together to sponsor three economic summits in the county this year and we have a fourth planned for November 2019.  We worked together on many different county-wide projects to help foster economic development, such as our county-wide clean-up initiative and the Rockdale – Cameron football banquet. But, most importantly we work together as a team to help foster an attitude of positive economic growth in the county.

Thus, working together as economic partners really makes a positive impact on our growth in the County.  It was great to be recognized for these important efforts and we appreciate our partnership with our local Texas Workforce Solutions to make our county a better place to work and live.  Go Milam!
