OJT Resource Center offers summer learning

A community group is providing extra resources for students who want to work on their reading, writing and math skills this summer.

The O.J. Thomas Resource Center is providing additional resources to the children of Cameron this summer.

“A group of concerned citizens came together to provide resources this summer,” organizer Virgie Hardeman said. “The program is designed to run for a six-week session at no cost.”

The group hopes to reach out to all kids and offer additional help this summer.

“We are seeking volunteers with previous teaching experience and/or ones with a love for teaching,” she said. “Also financial assistance is needed for snacks and teaching materials as this is a nonprofit program.

The program is held at O.J. Thomas Community Resource Center, 1406 West 12th Street in Cameron through July 25. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday.
