CDC to visit Milam Health Department

A CDC team with expertise in human-centered design and epidemiology will visit the Milam County Health Department on Tuesday, May 7.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) out of Atlanta, Georgia will be visiting Public Health Departments across the United States as part of their efforts to improve how cases of illness are tracked and reported to result in informed actions towards healthcare.

The CDC will meet with four to five Public Health Departments in Texas. Milam County was chosen as a site to visit to see how work is conducted in rural Texas.

The team will consult with health department staff members to learn how they conduct their disease surveillance as well as what works and doesn’t work in the daily activities of public health workers.

They will speak with the staff that tracks disease activity in their community, with a focus on data and technology needs.

These consultations will help inform the design of solutions to ensure the data and technology needs of health departments are being met.
