CISD to hold grand opening of renovated Yoe

Cameron ISD will host a grand opening of the new C.H. Yoe High School Career and Technology Education Center on Nov. 4 at 5:15 p.m. 

The public is invited to come view this incredible 21st Century, immersive learning environment. 

Over 103 years ago, Ms. Carrie Yoe gave the community of Cameron a “magnificent gift” that provided for the creation of the original C. H. Yoe High School, and now the district, with the support of its constituents, will ensure that this gift will continue as a future ready, career focused learning facility.

“We are extremely excited for our students and staff to be able to teach and learn in an environment that replicates the workplace and prepares our young people for success,” CISD Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles said. “The district is very thankful for the support of our community and their efforts to make this possible for our students. I cannot wait for our alumni and the citizens of our community to see the combination of a beautiful restoration and modern learning spaces.”  

There is no specific date set to transition students into the new facility, but Sprinkles said it will be as soon as possible.

“Being able to revive a century-old school building with as much history and tradition as this one holds in our community as a career and technical education center for our students, breathing new life into history, and blending the wisdom of the past with the skills of tomorrow, empowering the next generation to build their futures, makes this a really exciting time in Cameron ISD,” CISD CTE Director Kenny Driska said.

The new C.H. Yoe High School College and Career & Technical Education Center in the renovate Yoe High School houses the following programs: health sciences, computer science, business education, criminal justice/law enforcement, future teacher education, dual credit courses, and administration.
