Groundwater Summit to discuss population growth , state water plan
It is time again for the annual Milam and Burleson Counties Groundwater Summit.
The Summit will be held on Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Caldwell Civic Center at 103 W Hwy 21 in Caldwell.
The Summit is free and open to the public with lunch provided.
This year’s Summit topics will include an update on population growth and the State Water Plan in Central Texas with Tony Smith from the Texas Water Conservation Association.
A panel covering the Vista Ridge project - a case study on groundwater rights and regulations with Charles Porter, PHD; Robert Mace, PHD; Billy Howe, Farm Bureau Associate Director – Governmental Affairs; Gary Westbrook, General Manager POSGCD; and John Dupnik P.G. from Texas Water Development Board.
POSGCD Board President, Ward Roddam, will give the State of the District information. Other groups will cover the Desired Future Conditions of the State and a legislative update on Bills affecting water in Texas. Bobby Bazan from Texas Ground Water Association will talk about private water well ownership. Michael Redman, POSGCD Regulatory Compliance Specialist and Gregory Perry, POSGCD Water Resource Specialist, will present a program on Water Level Monitoring in our District.
In addition, Joel Pigg from the Texas Well Owner Network and Jaclyn Wise with the Extension Associate from Texas Water Resource Institute, will give go over the POSGCD/TAMU Agrilife programs and the Texas A&M AgriLife Well Informed program. They will go over the Water Test Results from our Well Water Testing Campaign.
