Milam Community Theater launches membership drive for 30th season

In 2024, Milam Community Theater will celebrate 30 years of producing live theater in Milam County.

To celebrate that milestone, the theater group has set the season’s table with an assortment of delicious shows staged throughout the year. The group has also launched its 2024 membership drive, which unites adult and youth programs under its membership options.

For the first time, members’ flex tickets can be used at adult OR youth shows and all of our members will be able to buy youth tickets for $2 off the regular price ($10).

The season begins with the annual Gala and annual membership meeting, Jan. 27. This year, the theater wants members to get in on the fun with a 1920s’ themed “Murder at the Juice Joint: A Night of Murder, Mystery and the Mob!” The event features a silent auction, sit-down dinner and loads of audience participation — indeed, everyone can get a piece of the action.

Rehearsals have already begun for the first show of the season: the beloved comedy, “Harvey,” by Mary Chase, which will be on stage February 24 & 25, March 2 & 3.

Next summer, MCT will produce the whimsical musical, “The Fantastiks,” by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones, July 27, 28, August 3 & 4.

In the fall, the group will stage “Dear Jack, Dear Louise,” a two-person show from the mind of Ken Ludwig, one of America’s best living playwrights. That show will be on stage Nov. 2, 3, 9 and 10.

The first youth show of the season will be “Night at the Wax Museum” by Craig Sodaro, on stage April 20, 21, 27 and 28.

MCT Youth Theater Camp production will be “The Phantom Tollbooth” by Susan Nanus, based on the book by Norton Juster. That show will be on stage June 21 and 22.

Finally, MCT will close out the year with “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” by Barbara Robinson, on stage Dec. 7, 8, 14 and 15.

Season memberships begin at $95 ($170 for a couple). More information about membership in the 501c(3) non-profit may be found at the “box office” tab on the MCT website, MilamCommunitytheater.com.
