Milam County welcomes new Ag and Natural Resources Agent
Milam County Commissioners approved the appointment of Josh Evans as the new Ag and Natural Resources Agent for Milam County this week.
Evans will begin his position with Texas A&M Agrilife Extension on May 31. He will join the Milam County office on July 1 after completing the Agrilife First Step Training Program in Brazos County.
Evans earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in Animal Science in 2020. Additionally, he graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Animal Breeding from A&M in 2022.
During his time at Texas A&M University he was selected for internship positions with the State Fair of Texas and San Antonio Livestock Exposition. Growing up in Teague, Evans was an active member of the Freestone 4-H Program exhibiting both steers and heifers. He also competed on the Livestock Judging Team for years, advancing to Texas State Round-Up.
“This has been a long process, but we believe it was worth the wait to find the right person.” says Donald Kelm, District Extension Administrator. “We are very excited about the experience and knowledge Josh will bring to this position and Milam County.”
Evans was selected from a field of 11 applicants for the position.
