Stidom honored for 103rd birthday
Doris Stidom was honored for her 103 years of life with a sign on the street she lives on that will live on forever.
Stidom’s family gathered on Saturday to honor the life of Stidom and dedicate the new street sign at the corner of S. Nolan and Henderson on the street that she has lived on for several years.
Stidom was born in Edge in 1920. She married L.C. Stidom in 1946 in Corsicana and moved to Cameron in 1954.
She became a member of the New Cornerstone Baptist Church.
She is the mother of six children and a five times great-grandmother.
She worked for Caldwell Chair Factory for 19 years and the Starlite Cafe for five years.
She can be found cheering on the Yoemen from her spot at Yoe Field every Friday night still.
She has been awarded the key to the City of Cameron, was top fisherman at the Dewberry Festival, and was awarded an honarary Rough Rider.
The Milam County Museum will feature the biography of Stidom from now on as part of its exhibits.
She is a big Dallas Cowboys and Cameron Yoemen fan.
The community honored Stidom with a parade to honor her 100th birthday three years ago in 2020.
The City of Cameron approved the street sign honoring Stidom in September.
