USS Cameron Donation
Dr. Richard Morgan, Executive Director of Morgan Military Aviation Museum presents a photo of the WWII ship, USS Cameron, to Mayor Bill Harris and the City of Cameron. Morgan Military Aviation Museum was incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in the state of Texas in 2001. The mission of the museum is to honor the legacy and sacrifice of our WWII veterans, educate our visitors and especially our young people about WWII, and to thank all who serve in our Armed Forces. After several successful exhibitions and seven years of Armed Forces Celebrations and Fly-ins held in Brady, Texas, the museum began the search for a hangar and permanent home. In 2021, the museum founders, Dr. Richard and Nanette Morgan, attended the first Cameron Airpark Airshow. There they saw the airpark’s vintage hangar, and the wheels of inspiration started turning. After visiting with the Airport Advisory Board, City leaders, and the City Council, the museum entered into a lease agreement for the hangar with the City of Cameron. Since then, the museum has been hard at work making renovations to the hangar and making plans to build an additional building to house the museum artifacts, extensive WWII art gallery, library, offices, and museum store. The Morgans are excited to be bringing the museum to Cameron and look forward to working with the community.
