Walk the Rancheria Grande dedicated

On Oct. 19 the official opening and dedication of the “Walk the Rancheria Grande” in Milam County took place at Cedar Hill Nature Preserve.  Landowners, Joyce and Mike Conner and Elaine and Gene Baumann were present with family members.  Also present were representatives from the National Park Service, Texas Historical Commission, Milam County Historical Commission, Texas Archaeology Society, the Director of the El Camino de los Tejas Historic National Trail Association and the Vice President of the Tonkawa Nation and interested citizens.  More than 50 people attended the ceremony at the Trail Head and stayed for a reception.  Later, many joined Mike Conner, who led the narrated 2.2 mile walk on the trail to the site of one of its historic villages.  If you are interested in walking the trail with your family or with a group, go to cedarhillnaturepreserve.com to make a reservation.
