Auto-pedistrian accident sends one to hospital

A Cameron woman went to the hospital after an auto-pedestrian crash on Thursday night.

Cameron Volunteer Fire Department, Cameron Police, and AMR responded just before 7 p.m. on Jan. 11 to an auto-pedestrian crash at 4th and Bowie.

According to Cameron Police, investigators learned Shira Anderson Taylor was crossing southbound in the pedestrian crosswalk toward Mike’s Convenience Store when she was struck by an older model Lincoln Town Car driven by Eric Perez, who was eastbound on West Travis.

Traffic was shutdown for less than an hour while crews worked the scene and a medical helicopter landed on Milam Plaza to transport Taylor to the hospital.

Perez was cited at the scene for No Driver License and No Insurance. Taylor, who sustained an apparent leg injury, appeared to be intoxicated. No other factors or circumstances were noted in the incident.
