Ballots set for May city, school elections
The ballots are set for the May 4 city and school elections. Four city council places and two school board positions are up for grabs. The four places up for grabs on the city council are Place 5 held by Virgie Hardeman, Place 3 held by Kyle Deal, Place 1 held by Daniel Willie and At-Large held by Melissa Williams. Councilmember Kyle Deal filed for re-election to Place 3. Maurice Goza and Jamie Young have filed for Place 1. Virgie Hardeman has filed for re-election to Place 5. Melissa Williams and Ruth Humble Kruse have filed for the At-Large place. Cameron ISD has two open spots on the CISD Board of Trustees. Those spots are currently held by Jason Dohnalik and Alan Patterson. Three people have filed to run for those two spots – Jason Dohnalik, Alan Patterson and Annisha Williams.
BUCKHOLTS
Buckholts ISD will not hold an election because only four candidates signed up to fill four spots. All are incumbent board members including Margaret Green, Adan Losoya, Ricky McCall and David Meinardus.
Milano
In Milano incumbent Mayor Roddy Gage will have an opponent in Karl Westbrook. The remaining three council spots will be decided amongst David Gunnels Jr., Steve Honeycutt, Glenda Westbrook and Brian Woods. On the Milano School Board there have been five filings for three places on the board. Those filing were incumbents Carl Blake, Michael Andrews and Lynnette Taylor and newcomers Greg Spears and Dennis Magee. Early voting begins in April for all city and school elections.
