Ben Milam Elementary celebrates fall with fun-filled activities

Ben Milam Elementary has been celebrating Fall and Halloween with fun packed activities for the students.

The Pre-K teachers of our 3 and 4 year old students, held a Fall Into Fall Festival on Oct. 23. The students celebrated on the playground, and under the pavilion, with hayrides, pumpkin painting, tattoos, and games such as bowling for candy corn and pin the nose on the pumpkin. They ate picnic lunch on the playground and enjoyed the beautiful Autumn day.

On Oct. 20, BME hosted the annual trick-or-treat around the school for all students, where students participated in trick-or-treating for candy, and those who wore their costumes were able to show them off.

Students also participated in a pumpkin decorating contest in which 180 pumpkins were submitted and numbered.

A team of adults from the school board and administration building judged the pumpkins knowing only the pumpkin number, but not the student who submitted the entry. There was also a coloring contest, guess the weight of the pumpkin contest, guess the circumference of the pumpkin contest, and guess the number of candy corn in a jar contest.

Teachers also showed off original, and elaborate, costumes, and they were treated to delicious homemade cinnamon rolls by the fantastic cafeteria staff. Parents donated the candy for the trick-or-treat event, and there was an ample supply.

The contest categories and winners were:
