Cameron ISD looking at uses for Old Yoe building

Cameron ISD is taking a good hard look at advancing its Career and Technology Education programming and have taken several steps to offer students new programming next school year.

During an update at the board meeting on April 12, Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles and Assistant Superintendent Mistie Dakroub gave the board a glance at the future.

“We have been working to refit the old cafeteria at the Old Ben Milam at the high school as a culinary arts center,” Sprinkles said. “This will be a great laboratory for our kids to use. We are currently interviewing teachers for that program. We decided that is would be a better use of our money to provide an opportunity to give our kids a career opportunity.”

Dakroub said the district is remodeling the cafeteria area to put in an industry-grade kitchen.
