Cameron ISD student reports attempted abduction

Cameron students are being reminded to be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity as the walk or ride to and from school after an incident Nov. 20.

Cameron ISD Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles said in a press release that on the afternoon of Nov. 20 a Cameron ISD student was approached by two individuals in a gold sports utility vehicle on 12th Street.

Cameron Police told Sprinkles the student reported that two females in the SUV attempted to get the student into the car.

Sprinkles said the district is working with the Cameron Police Department to investigate this incident and ensure the safety of all students.

He said the district asks that parents remind their students to be aware of their surroundings, avoid communicating with strangers and to report any suspicious activity as they walk or ride to and from school.
