Cameron ISD voters shoot down bond in close race

In a very close margin Cameron ISD voters vetoed a bond proposal that would have allowed for renovations to the old Yoe High building on Tuesday.

Unofficial totals showed that voters voted against the $14.5 million bond by a margin of 399-395.

"Cameron ISD and its board of trustees would like to thank the voters for their participation in this electio," CISD Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles said. "Cameron ISD is committed to a continual partnership with its constituents to provide one of the best educational experiences in the State of Texas. Together we can find solutions and opportunities to meet the needs of our students. I am truly blessed to be the superintendent of such a fine school district and blessed to be part of this outstanding and supportive community. Together we the Yoemen stand!"

Across Texas, all eight constitutional amendments were approved and Milam County voters followed suit with state results, approving all eight amendments.

Voter turnout was light in Milam County as less than eight percent of registered voters cast a ballot, or 1,630 of the 21,044 registered voters.

Voters in Bartlett ISD also denied a bond proposal, voting that $20 million issue down 114-102.
