Cameron Thrift Store gearing up for fall season
The Cameron Area Christian Thrift Store is currently gearing up for the fall season and especially the coming holidays.
We are open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of every week from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Please come see us!
Resale of donated household items and a great selection of clothing for adults and children at low prices. Bags of food are available at no charge. If you have questions or need help please come by and talk to our manager Betty McDonald.
If you have donations for the Thrift Store you are encouraged to bring them by. We are currently accepting clothing, and especially need food items.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are not that far away! We are in need of holiday food items including; evaporated milk, cake mixes, cranberry sauce, canned sweet potatoes, canned vegetables, cornbread mix and pumpkin pie filling. Please know as well that you can mail a tax-deductible donation to 300 South Houston Street, Cameron, Texas 76520 or come by the Thrift Shop which is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community-based organization which serves the needy of the area.
The Thrift Store board of directors met on Monday, Sept. 14, at 5 p.m. in the Family Life Center of the Cameron First United Methodist Church.
Manager’s reports and financial summaries from August were presented. Food donations were supplied by the Saint Monica’s Ladies Society and Brookshire Brothers Food Store of Cameron.
Financial donations during August came from First Baptist Church of Cameron, All Saints Episcopal, Christian Fellowship Church, Batte Town Church, three individuals, and Community Service. A total of three volunteers assisted during August. If you’d like to volunteer, just go by the Thrift Shop and see the manager. Your help will certainly be appreciated!
The thrift shop will soon have new mail box located in the front of the building. Security cameras are currently being installed in the interior of the thrift shop as well.
Officers for the 2020-2021 year, were elected by acclamation during this meeting as well. Officers include: Alan Wood, President, Reverend Charles Harrison and Lisa Condry Co-Vice President positions, Sue Foster, Secretary and Marie Kortis as Treasurer. Congratulations to these board members, and thank you for your willingness to serve the community of Cameron and Milam county!
Please remember the Thrift Shop has many other items besides clothing and food. Come by and shop our selection of used furniture, CDs, DVDs, and books, jewelry and other interesting treasures!
