City of Cameron sets proposed tax rate, budget
The Cameron City Council will approve the tax rate and budget for 2022-23 at a meeting on Sept. 19.
The city will lower the tax rate from .77 cents to .659373 cents per $100 value for 2022. That is a 14.36 percent decrease. The new rate will be a 3.56 increase in tax revenue due to the increase in total taxable values in the City of Cameron from $1,637,643 to $1,696,054.
The council heard the first reading of the proposed tax rate during a meeting Monday night.
The next public hearing will be on Sept. 19 at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers at Cameron City Hall.
During the meeting council also: approved a re-plat request of Hermits Addition; approved a special use permit for 1704 North Hoover; approved a request for the use of Cameron Airport Park for a softball tournament on Oct. 1; approved a request from Cameron Police Department to host National Night Out on Oct. 4; approved a request from CPD for TxDOT Commercial Motor Vehicle Step Grant for 2023; and amended fees for solid waste.
