Commissioners establish medical task force for county

Milam County Commissioners established a task force to look at providing better medical care in the county during their meeting Monday.

Commissioners voted unanimously to establish a countywide task force that will look into improvements for after hours care, expansion of ambulance services in the county, and a use for the former Rockdale hospital. They also named Dr. Janelle House as replacement for retiring Dr. Sidney Richardson to head the Milam County Health Authority.

House and Health Department Director Robert Kirkpatrick will serve on the task force along with several others.

The task force will have authority to thoroughly investigate all related issues and make recommendations to the court by Dec. 30.
