Contested races set for city council spots

Last-minute filings brought about a few contested races for City Council in Cameron.

John Torres Sr. and William Pratt filed for places on the Cameron City Council on Feb. 14.

Torres, a Milam County Jail Lieutenant, will face Nathan Fuchs, a hatchery manager, for Ward 2. The winner will replace longtime councilman Bobby Schiller.

Pratt, a railroad conductor, will face incumbent Lekethia “KeKe” Sims for Ward 4.

Bill Harris is uncontested in the race for mayor. Incumbent Connie Anderle is not running.

 

Cameron ISD

Three candidates are vying for two places on the Cameron Independent School District Board.

Incumbents James Burks and Roy Martinez will face challenger Annisha Williams.

Election day is May 2.
