COVID UPDATE: Active cases go down 14
COVID Update from Milam County Judge Steve Young for Dec. 14:
Today, we have better news than last Friday. Our active cases went down from 142 to 128 and we are down to nine persons in the hospital.
Fifty-two active PCR cases were taken off the active list and 76 antigen cases were taken off the active list.
I hope this is sign that we are starting back down.
However, we tested 71 individuals in Rockdale today with 11 positive results. In the last 20 days of testing, we have tested 801 individuals in Milam County with 204 positive results with a positivity rate of 25 percent.
On Tuesday, Dec. 15, we will test in Thorndale at the Thorndale VFD.
If you are a Milam County resident with COVID symptoms we are happy to provide a free COVID antigen test. Thanks to our great team of testers who are putting their lives on the line so we can provide testing! A special thanks to your fine County Commissioners, the Mayors and City Council members of each city of the County for cooperating to pool their resources to provide this much needed testing program.
Milam County is prepared to administer the vaccine to any Milam County resident, free of charge, as soon as we get it. Last Friday, FDA approved the Pfizer vaccine, but we do not know when we will get it in Milam County. The State will provide the vaccine to the County and we will administer the vaccine to any Milam County resident. In fact, we have already partnered with Texas A&M Health Science to help administer the vaccine.
