COVID UPDATE: County vaccinations increase
Milam County’s vaccination rates went up sharply this weekend.
The Milam County Health Department administered 158 vaccination shots on Saturday during a clinic.
“Saturday was a very busy day for the Health Department as it administered 158 shots,” Milam County Judge Steve Young said on Monday. “This is more than we have done in a single day in some time. It appears the vaccinations are increasing.”
Young said there were 43 vaccinations administered to students.
The total case count in Milam County is 194 active cases of COVID-19. There are currently 20 people in the hospital and nine in serious condition on ventilators. All of those in the hospital were unvaccinated.
There will be free COVID testing today (Aug. 30) at the former Rockdale Hospital beginning at 9 a.m. Any Milam County resident with symptoms is welcome to get a test.
