COVID UPDATE: COVID cases mark new record in Milam County
Milam County set a new record for COVID cases on Monday.
“Today, we set a record high number of cases since COVID-19 began in March 2020 at 320 confirmed, active cases in the county,” County Judge Steve Young said Monday night. “This is 53 more cases than the previous record high of 267 set back in December 2020.”
There were 125 new confirmed, active cases in the county with 64 discharged cases. Two individuals were hospitalized and one person is on a ventilator.
The county tested 111 individuals in Rockdale on Monday with 68 positive or a 61.3 percent positivity rate. This is a higher positivity rate than last Thursday.
The county will offer testing again in Cameron on Thursday, Jan. 13, at the Cameron Fire Station beginning at 9 a.m.
