COVID UPDATE: Only five new cases over the last several days

Five new cases of COVID-19 have been announced in Milam County. The current case count sits at 488 with 18 active cases.

"Today we have five new confirmed cases of the virus in Milam County," County Judge Steve Young said. "This is encouraging as it includes the weekend. Seven individuals were discharged and no one was admitted to a hospital."

Young said the county tested 23 individuals in Rockdale on Monday, but no results were available due to the use of PCR tests. Today's testing in Thorndale will be done with the rapid antigen tests.

"Last week we test 77 individuals with 10 positive results," Young said. "Our testing is making a difference in controlling the virus as those who are infected are quickly taken out of circulation along with their close contacts."
