COVID UPDATE: Only two new cases today

Only two new COVID-19 cases were reported in Milam County for Wednesday.

"Today, I am happy to report we only have two new confirmed cases in Milam County," Milam County Judge Steve Young said. "The bad news is that we already have the virus in some school and sporting activities. Milano ISD has postponed volleyball and cross country for the next two weeks due to infections. Other schools in the county have similar problems.  The schools are working hard to keep the kids, teachers, administrators and coaches safe, but it is very difficult."

There have been 357 cases of the virus in the county to date, with only 23 active cases as of Wednesday. There are currently four people hospitalized and still only three fatalities.

"Another bad note is that Texas had a record 324 deaths today," Young said. "Further, the positivity rate is at 24 percent, which is over double what the Governor had hoped for. However, the number of daily confirmed cases is dropping. Thanks to each of you for doing your part to keep us safe and more especially the schools."
