Milam County reinstates Burn Ban

Per Milam County Judge Steve Young: As of 12:01 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022 a countywide burn ban is in effect. Drought conditions, high winds and extreme temperatures warrant the burn ban. This week, large grassfires have required us to call out the Forestry Service to help put out the fires. In addition, this puts a large strain on our volunteer fire departments and puts everyone in jeopardy. If conditions worsen we anticipate implementing a ban on the sale of certain fireworks during the July 4, 2022 holiday.
