Recently, the Milam County Sheriff’s Department supplied two local fire departments with new hand held radios. The radios are multiband portables which allows the departments to communicate with all Milam County users as well as interoperate with outside agencies like Bell or Williamson County Responders. Sheriff Mike Clore said the total price for four radios programmed is $17,326.08. The cost to tax payers was nothing. The radios are waterproof, ruggedized and ready for duty. Captain John Mendoza set up the transfer to the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department and the Rockdale Volunteeer Fire Department.
