Rockdale Industrial Park transforming into thriving residential community

The City of Rockdale is proud to announce the impending transformation of the once undeveloped Rockdale Industrial Park into a vibrant residential community, known as the Cornerstone Development. This remarkable achievement is the result of strategic planning and collaboration between the City of Rockdale, the Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) Board, Ranch Road Development, and esteemed homebuilder D.R. Horton.

● The Rockdale Industrial Park is undeveloped but is equipped with essential infrastructure including water and sewer service to the site

● The MDD Board voted to market the property for residential development in Fall 2021 - weeks before Samsung announced their Taylor project

● The MDD Board received an offer from Bastrop-based Ranch Road Development in July 2022

● The sale was completed in December 2022

● Ranch Road Development is partnering with D.R. Horton to be the homebuilder

● The Cornerstone Development aims to offer 660 lots ranging from 40-50 feet wide and a selection of townhomes, with a projected buildout of 5-7 years

● The first batch of houses should be ready by Christmas 2024

● There is also a 13-acre site reserved for a future elementary school

The Cornerstone Development will represent a significant milestone in Rockdale’s economic growth, as it transforms an underutilized industrial area into an attractive residential community.

The project showcases the city’s commitment to progress, job creation, and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.

Groundbreaking will begin on June 21st at 8:30 a.m. at 900 FM 487 North Rockdale, TX 76567.
