Seven hour CEU program planned in Franklin

The annual 7-hour CEU Farm & Ranch program will be held on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at the Pridgeon Community Center, 351 Cooks Lane in Franklin. 

The cost for the program will be $60. Registration and payment is required beforehand to reserve your spot and to make sure our meal counts are accurate. 

Check in at the event will begin at 7 a.m. with the program to begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. 

Seven CEU’s will be offered with the first five hours covering all requirements for Commercial License Holders.

Speakers and topics for the Oct. 28 program with 7 CEU’s will include:

- Control of External & Internal Parasites/Fly Control Options in Beef Cattle

o Dr. Jason Cleere, State Extension Beef Cattle Specialist

- Setting up Your Equipment to Avoid Drift and Non-Target Damage

o Mr. Zach Howard, Extension Program Specialist, Soil & Crop Sciences

- Unwanted Grass and Weed Control Options in Hay Fields

o Dr. Vanessa Corriher-Olson, Extension Forage Specialist

- Review/Update Laws and Regulations Concerning Pesticide use in Texas

o Dr. Shane McLellan, County Extension Agent, McLennan County

- Range/Brush Nuisance plants around us and their Chemical Control Options

o Dr. Barron Rector, Extension Range & Brush Specialist

- Pests of the pastures and IPM options to guard against them

o Dr. David Kerns, Extension Entomologist, State IPM Coordinator

- Aquatic Weed Identification and Chemical Control Options

o Brittany Chesser – Extension Aquatic Program Mgmt. Specialist
