Sheriff announces several MCSO promotions
As the Milam County Sheriff’s Office begins to expand, promotions and reorganization is in order. Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore is pleased to announce the promotion of a new lieutenant and three new sergeants.
Further, Criminal Investigation Division Lt. Bret Wier is sliding over as Patrol Division Lt., taking over the vacancy following the retirement of Stephen Hanel.
Moving up into Wier’s old Lt. slot will be Sgt. Sam Ferguson, V.
To backfill the new sergeant vacancy and with the addition of two new sergeant slots moving forward, Sheriff Clore saw fit to promote Patrol Deputies Jonathan Mendoza, Dillian Ford, and Zachary Strouth. These promotions take effect Oct. 19.
Lt. Wier came to MCSO in 2014 as a transport deputy before joining patrol in 2016. In his 10-years with MCSO, he worked his way up the ranks and was most recently a CID Lieutenant.
Lt. Ferguson began his career with MCSO as a jailer back in 2009. He earned his peace officer license in 2012 and then became a transport deputy before joining patrol and steadily working his way up the ranks. He recently reached 15 years of service here.
Sgt. Mendoza began his law enforcement career with MCSO as a jailer in May 2012 and has risen through the ranks since. He became a licensed peace officer in November 2018.
Sgt. Ford returned to MCSO in March of this year. He began his career as a jailer here in 2016. He earned his peace officer license in 2019 with Rockdale Police prior to his returning here as a deputy.
Sgt. Strouth started with MCSO back in April of this year. His career began as a jailer in 2011 and he then became a licensed peace officer in 2018.
