Sheriff's Office warns of scam

The Milam County Sheriff's Office is warning of a scam circulating in the county.
Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore said his department has been made aware that scammers have been calling residents and identifying themselves as a Sgt. Ken Jones or Deputy Charles Lee with the Milam County Sheriff`s Office.
The scammers then tell the resident they have warrants for their arrest and their bonds are upwards of $35,000. The resident is then told to go to a local store and purchase money cards to pay their bond and avoid arrest. Clore said this is a scam and there is no one employed in the department by those names.
Clore said feel free to give the scammers a piece of your mind, but don`t give them any money or information as this is a scam.
The Sheriff`s Office will never call you in this manner.
