Work to begin on FM 485 Monday

Milam County residents who travel FM 485 in the northern part  of the county will need to find another route come Monday.

The construction and rehabilitation of existing road consisting of grading, widening, structures, and several bridge replacements along FM 485 will begin on Monday, Jan. 6.

Drivers can expect delays, and through traffic will be detoured along FM 2269 and US 77.

The work will be done on the portion of the road from US 77 west to the Bell County line.

The Texas Department of Transportation asks for the public’s patience during this work. Please watch for traffic control and messages. If possible, TxDOT encourages drivers to plan for extra travel time through this area or seek other routes.

This project is contracted to James Construction for $14.07 million. The project is expected to be complete in February 2021.
