Yoe FFA teams headed to state contest
For the first time in more than 50 years, Yoe FFA is headed to the State FFA Leadership Development Event contest.
Yoe FFA has two teams advancing to the state contest, which will be held virtually this year, Dec 1-5.
The Ag Advocacy team won first at the Area 12 contest, which advanced them to state. This contest is designed to inform the general public and consumers about the importance and value of the agriculture industry, and to demonstrate how agriculture impacts human lives. These teams promote agriculture on the local, state, and national level. The presentation is 5-8 minutes with judges’ choice questions at the end.
Ag Advocacy Team Members include Kincaid Callahan, Leah Pfeiffer, Sydney Vaculin and Carlos Bolivar. FFA Advisor is Monica Barton.
The Greenhand Skills team won second at the Area 12 Contest, which is also an advancing placing. This team is made up of first year ag students and they must perform an agricultural skill before judges. Their skill must be part of the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources curriculum, and they are tasked with using effective public speaking and communication methods to demonstrate the skill in a 10-20 minute time frame.
Greenhand Skills Team Members include Mackenzie Mahan, Emily Minatrea and Tessa Vaculin. FFA Advisor is Cassie Callahan.
