Water Everywhere

The Little River and many other area rivers and creeks were at capacity and overflowing after rains that came to the area to start the new year. The Little River was at flood stage on Jan. 4. City of Cameron Utility Director Gerald Brunson said this wasn’t the biggest rain or flood there has been in the last few years but it was the most runoff that they have ever seen. He said the wastewater plant was close to having 6 million gallons of water run through it. The flooding caused water to completely cover the wastewater plant and backed up the lines. He said there was no place for the water to go during that time but everything is back to normal now. At right, many roads across the county were also flooded due to the rain including Gillis Street in Cameron.
