Texas Education Agency and TCOLE have teamed up in teaching the Community Safety Education Act to improve Law Enforcement and Citizen Interaction.
TEA is teaching their students how to properly interact with police during traffic stops and other encounters. This is a lesson that over the years has been affected by negative opinion of law enforcement by the citizens and profiling by law enforcement.
The TCOLE version for law enforcement teaches officers to be patient with individuals who may have never had law enforcement contact as well as those with challenging personalities. Senate Bill 30 was put into place to correct these issues in hopes that citizens and officers can have healthier interactions and less negative outcomes.
