Bulldogs go 2-1 at Hallettsville Sacred Heart Tournament

The Thorndale Bulldogs went 2-1 over the weekend at the Hallettsville Sacred Heart tournament.

The team played two games on Thursday and one on Saturday. The team is currently 4-3 on the season. The Bulldogs lost the late lead on Thursday, falling to St. Joe 6-1.

Corbin Pruesse absorbed the loss for the Bulldogs, striking out three. He also singled and recorded an RBI. Thorndale bounced back that afternoon with a 19-1 win over Flatonia.

Scott Guzman had five hits in the contest. He doubled twice in the first inning, singled in the second and fourth frames and then doubled again in the fifth. Colton Ray, Mason Kuhl and Collin Taylor all connected for doubles, with Corbin Pruesse hitting two singles and Taylor also recorded a single. The Bulldogs tallied 15 hits in the contest. Justin Paxton recorded the win, striking out three in four innings of work.

Thorndale came back to take a 8-2 win over Schulenburg on Saturday. The game was tied, but the Bulldogs put up seven runs in the fifth inning for the win. Paxton connected for a triple, Corbin Pruesse hit a double and Guzman recorded a single in the game. Tyler Shillings tossed the win, striking out six in five innings of work.

Thorndale will open up District 27-A play on Monday when they travel to Rosebud-Lott. The team will then host the Cougars on Tuesday.
