MCJLS sale earns over $174,000 for county youth

The 2019 Milam County Junior Livestock Show saw another successful year for exhibitors, raising $174,675 from the premium sale on Saturday night to end the three-day event.

The Grand Champion steer was exhibited by Trew Schroeder of the Thorndale FFA. The steer sold for $7,600 to Little River Youth Supporters, Milam County Livestock, Little River Materials, WRI Tractors, Frontier Bank and Stoney’s Liquor.

The Reserve Champion steer was exhibited by Kenzie Hobbs of the Thorndale 4-H. It sold for $5,250 to Thorndale Ag Boosters.

The Grand Champion commercial heifers were exhibited by Emmy Fulton of the Cameron 4-H. They were purchased for $2,800 by Milam County Livestock.

The Reserve Champion commercial heifers were exhibited by Ben King of the Milano FFA. They were purchased for $3,000 by Arc of Pride.

The Grand Champion swine was exhibited by Kinley Meadors of the Thorndale 4-H. It was purchased for $4,500 by Milam County Livestock, Classic Bank and Caliber Metal. Meadors also exhibited the Reserve Champion lamb.

The Reserve Champion swine was exhibited Kloie Cargill of the Thorndale FFA. It was purchased for $2,250 by Little River Youth Supporters and Milam County Livestock.

The Grand Champion lamb was exhibited by Hadley Meadors of the Thorndale 4-H. It was purchased for $3,000 by Rockdale Country Ford. The Grand Champion broilers were exhibited by Gabriel Ramthun of the Thorndale 4-H. They were purchased for $1,600 by Milam County Livestock, Anderle Lumber and Ideal Poultry.

The Reserve Champion broilers were exhibited by Alfred McDaniel of the Thorndale 4-H. They were purchased for $1,400 by Ideal Poultry.

The Grand Champion rabbits were exhibited by Brady Barton of the Cameron 4-H. They were purchased for $3,500 by Milam County Livestock, Dr. Josh Knowels of Smile at the World Orthodontics, Cameron Brookshire Brothers, Judge John Youngblood and Little River Materials.

The Reserve Champion rabbits were exhibited by Carlie Eason of the Cameron 4-H. They were purchased for $1,850 by Citizens National Bank.

The Grand Champion turkey was exhibited by Bailey Anderle of the Cameron FFA. It was purchased for $2,000 by WRI Tractors. Anderle also exhibited the Reserve Champion turkey.

The Grand Champion goat was exhibited by Jenna Lindig of the Thorndale FFA. It was purchased for $2,300 by Thorndale Ag Boosters.

The Reserve Champion goat was exhibited by Kyrene Jackson of the Thorndale 4-H. It was purchased for $1,900 by Ruth Humble Kruse.

The Grand Champion baked goods were cookies baked by Brinley Patterson of the Cameron 4-H. They were purchased for $1,100 by Rockdale Country Ford.

The Reserve Champion baked goods was a cake baked by Harleigh Barrett of the Thorndale 4-H. It was purchased by Little River Youth Supporters for $500.

The rest of the results from the Milam County Junior Livestock Show as well as photos of the Grand and Reserve winners will be included in the next week’s paper.
