Suzanne Quick

Suzanne Quick passed away peacefully April 24, 2019, at her home near Thorndale, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Suzanne was born Sept. 16, 1950, in Houston.  She lived an interesting and adventuresome life.  Suzanne was a world traveler, educator, devoted wife and mother, a ranch woman, scout leader, artist, and a pillar of the Southwest Milam community. Suzanne worked as a librarian at Thorndale ISD for 25 years.  During this period, she found time to further her own education and graduated from Saint Edward’s University and ultimately received a Master of Library and Information Science Degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

An obituary could never capture the magnitude of this woman’s life, as her story could fill volumes.  Suzanne was a fearless woman and passed with a smile on her face.

Suzanne is preceded in death by her father, Charles B. Quick Jr.; mother, Suzanne B. Quick; nephew, Mark B. Quick Jr., and granddaughter, Molly Mae Rains.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jerry D. Rains of Thorndale; and their two children, Daniel W. Rains of Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Camille B. Rains-Johnson of Queensland, Australia; grandsons, Luke Rains and Arlo Johnson; brothers, Charles, Mark, and Gerald Quick; and a sister, Marilynn Wilson of Houston; along with a whole host of friends, colleagues, and loved ones the world over.

A celebration of life is being planned for a future date.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that books be donated in her name to their local school or community library.
