Fire Department Grants

On Thursday, June 27, Valero presented grant money to the Milam County Volunteer Fire Departments in the amount of $75,000. Gause, Milano, Rockdale, Thorndale, Minerva, and Buckholts each received $10,000 and Cameron received $15,000. This is for the use of the respective departments to buy equipment and other needed items for their operations. The awards were made by Valero Vice President Fred Hampton. Valero recently built a pipeline through the county which started in Hearne and runs to Taylor, crossing about 35 miles of the county. The pipeline is now operational and various oil and gas products will be transported through the line from Hearne to Taylor for distribution to the Austin market.
