Yvonne Linda Ward

Yvonne Linda Ward, 57, of Palestine, departed to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 10, 2019.  She was born in Rosebud, Texas, on Oct. 1, 1961, to Herman Sonny Dorner and Myrtle Swanzy Dorner.

Yvonne, lovingly known as “Nana”, made her grandkids a priority in her life.   She enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible.  Yvonne was a dare devil and spontaneous person who enjoyed arts and crafts, music and dancing.   She loved going to the lake or anything outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Dorner; and late husband, Richard Derek Ward.

Yvonne was survived by her fiancé, James Johnson; mother, Myrtle Dorner of Cameron; mother-in-law, Necie Pitts of Oakwood; daughter, Lisa Rothe of Palestine; son, Travis Wayne Pratt and wife Melissa of Palestine; sisters, Nancy Hoff and Frances Oliphant; brothers, Ronnie Dorner, Jessie Dorner and Terry Dorner; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Friends were invited to visit with family beginning at one o’clock until the time of service.

Funeral services to celebrate Yvonne’s life were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019, in the Rhone Memorial Chapel. Bro. Kevin Willmott officiated. Immediately following, a reception was held in the Reflection Room of Rhone Funeral Home.

Those honored to serve as honorary pallbearers were Colton Jones, Logan Salmon, Ferris Ward and Bubba Johnson.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions were directed to the family at 901 S. Sylvan, Palestine, Texas 75801.
