Doris Jane Russell Smith

Doris Jane Russell Smith passed away in San Antonio on Jan. 28, 2020, at the age of 79. Jane was born in Dimmitt on Dec. 9, 1940, to Aubrey Foster and Dorothy Brigance Russell.

Jane graduated from Yoe High School in Cameron in 1959. She received her Bachelor of Science in Music from Howard Payne University in 1963.

Jane married Jack Curtis Smith on May 25, 1963. They had one son Mark Curtis Smith born Oct. 13, 1967, in Tucker, Ga.

Jane lived in Tucker, Ga., where she taught piano until 2008 when she moved to College Station. She has lived in San Antonio since 2011 where she passed.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband and son Mark; and her sister, Rita Carolyn Petrey.

Jane is survived by her brother, John Carroll Russell; and her sisters, Dorothy Annette Favorite and Evelyn LaNelle Dusek.
