Primary election set for Tuesday

Voting for the March 3 Primary election will take place at several polling places across the county.

Voters in Milam County can vote at any location throughout the county from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3.

Locations are Bea’s Kitchen, 101 E. Main in Cameron; Cameron Housing Authority, 704 W. 6th Street in Cameron; Buckholts Community Center, 110 W. Main Street in Buckholts; Thorndale VFW, 302 E. Moerbe in Thorndale; Milano VFW, 305 E. Main (Hwy 79) in Milano; Gause VFW, 102 Main Street in Gause; Hogan-Hall, 1203 W. Cameron Avenue in Rockdale; and George Hill Patterson Center, 609 Mill Street in Rockdale.

Voters will select candidates in the presidential election as well as many local races along with selecting a replacement for U.S. Rep. Bill Flores, who is retiring.

The Republican candidates for the District 17 race are: Renée Swann, Kristen Alamo Rowin, Scott Bland, Trent Sutton, Jeff Oppenheim, David Saucedo, Laurie Godfrey Mcreynolds, George W. Hindman, Elianor Vessali, Ahmad Adnan, Pete Sessions, and Todd Kent. The Democratic candidates are: William Foster III, David Anthony Jaramillo, and Rick Kennedy.

Contested county races on the Republican ballot are: County Attorney - Lonnie E. Gosch and Bill Torrey; County Sheriff - H. L. “Herbie” Vaughan, Chris White and Craig Wise; County Commissioner Precinct 1-Richard “Opey” Watkins, Henry “Hub” Hubnik and Ricky McCall; County Commissioner Precinct 3 - Charles E. Truitt, Frank Summers Jr. and Arthur Neal; and County Constable Precinct 1 - Pat Guffey and James Pratt.
