Frances Pauline Gilliland
Frances Pauline Gilliland, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 7, 2020. She was born on Nov. 18, 1928, in Milano, to Effie and Charlie Robinson.
Frances married her sweetheart, Troy, on Aug. 1, 1948, in Milam County. After she and Troy were married, they moved to Houston where they raised two beautiful daughters. For many years, their church home was Bethel Baptist Church. In 1974, Troy and Frances returned to Milano and attended Liberty Community Church. Frances continued to faithfully serve there even after Troy was called home to Heaven in 2003.
As exemplified by the way she lived her life, Frances was a servant of Jesus Christ. She was loving, humble, selfless, hardworking, talented, fearless, competitive, thoughtful, a teacher, independent and always content. Frances was loved and adored by so many, but none more than her daughters and their families. To them, she was Mother and Maw-Maw. She leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Troy; and her brother, Jimmie Robinson. She is survived by her brother, Joe (Carolyn) Robinson; sisters-in-law, Faye Davidson and Barbara Gilliland; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Her presence will be missed the most by her daughters, Jackie (Don) Oprea and Charlotte (Bob) Taussig; grandchildren, Dawn (Mark) Gorman, Shane (Crystal) Oprea, Kim (Justin)Tausch and Tara (Justin) Tippit; and great-grandchildren, Payten, Parker, Presten, Porter, Hannah, Avery, Carter, Ella and Logan.
Although our hearts are hurting, we know that Frances is rejoicing with her Savior and we hold tight to God’s promise that we will see her again one day.
On Saturday, March 14, at Liberty Community Church, 4856 FM 3242, Cameron, Texas, visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and will be immediately followed by her Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m.
Donations in Frances’ memory can be made to: Liberty Community Association Cemetery, 3370 CR 237, Cameron, Texas 76520.
