City of Cameron announces local state of disaster

Cameron Mayor Connie Anderle has instituted a local state of disaster for the City of Cameron as of Friday afternoon.

The state of disaster run along with same guidelines as the county limiting gatherings to 10 people; initiating a 9 p.m. curfew for those under the age of 18; closing all schools in the county; and urging everyone to shelter in place to avoid the spread of the virus. 

The city has temporarily stopped the disconnection of water services due to nonpayment for all customers. Late fees on water utility billing will be temporarily stopped for the duration of the declaration. In addition, any water service disconnected after March 1, 2020, for non-payment.

Citizens are encouraged to use the city utility drop off or P.O. Box 833, Cameron TX 76520.

The City of Cameron will close public buildings to the general public in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Notice of operations and contact information will be posted.  Citizens are encouraged to make necessary appointments with city staff and officials.

The call of public meetings such as municipal court, planning and zoning will be postponed during the duration of this declaration.
