Drive-thru COVID testing site set in Milano
Milam County residents will have the opportunity to get tested for COVID-19.
There will be a free drive-through COVID-19 testing set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at the Milano VFD Fire Station, 335 E. Ave. C in Milano.
County Judge Steve Young said the COVID-19 testing will be limited to 60 persons and won't be for everyone. Test will be a nasal swab. Results are supposed to be received within 48 hours.
Young said at 9:05 a.m. Monday he will release a number for persons to call and make appointments on Monday via local radio stations and media. He will also have a Facebook Live post on Monday afternoon with the information and an update after Governor Abbott's press conference.
"I'm required not to release that number any earlier than that," he said. "They will screen you over the phone, ask you questions about any symptoms and only if they think you are at-risk will they give you a number and information about showing up for the test."
Young said he will propose to the Commissioners Court during their meeting Monday that the county amend the Shelter in Place order to conform to the Governor’s order.
