Kenneth H. Chandler

Retired Colonel Kenneth H. Chandler, 99, of Temple, Texas, passed away March 29, 2020. Kenneth H. Chandler was born on Jan. 24, 1921, to Katie Sue Hinds and E.M. Chandler of Thorndale, Texas.

Kenneth graduated from Thorndale High School in 1937 and then attended A&M College of Texas, where he graduated in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science degree.  Kenneth entered the United State Air Force as a Second Lieutenant in 1942, spending three years in the European Theater. He was discharged in 1946. Kenneth was employed by the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Temple, Marlin and McKinney, Texas, then becoming the Director of Labor Management Relations with the US Department of Transportation, followed by Executive Assistant to the Corporate Manager of Personnel, at the Bechtel Corp of San Francisco, Calif.

During these years Kenneth continued his military training, retiring as a Colonel with the USAF.  In retirement Kenneth attended Temple Junior College, completing an Associate Degree in Art, creating many beautiful oil and water color paintings.

He is survived by his wife, Ellan Chandler; two daughters, Wendy Todd and Robin Chandler; brother, Wayne Chandler; two stepchildren, Martin Durfee and Twila Rhine; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.   

Due to the current pandemic services are pending. A graveside memorial service will be held at the City of Taylor Cemetery at a later date.
