County COVID-19 case count moves to 27

The COVID-19 case county is up to 27 in Milam County.

Milam County Judge Steve Young announced Tuesday afternoon that the county was informed of a 27th confirmed case of the virus in Milam County.

The case is a younger male from central Milam County who was tested due to symptoms. The person tested positive and is now self-quarantined at home. 

Young said this is not a person who was tested in Milano.

There are now 27 cases in the county. The Milam County Health Department said 19 of those cases are closed are recoved as of yesterday afternoon. There are currently seven active cases, with one of those hospitalized as of today. There is still only one death in the county.

Eight-two persons have been monitored and there are currently 10 actively being monitored.

The Health Department is currenctly conducting a contact investigation on the 27th case. If you have come in contact with this person, they will contact you.

Young reminds everyone to wear a mask when out in public and to remember that just because things are opening doesn't mean the virus is any less deadly or present.
