COVID UPDATE: Six new cases including area high school athlete

Six new COVID-19 cases were announced yesterday including an athlete at one of the county's schools. Active case are down 11 to 21. The total case count sits at 352.

"Yesterday we had a young athlete test positive for the virus," Milam County Judge Steve Young said. "This young person practiced last week and then scrimmaged on Friday evening and Saturday morning. On Sunday the person had symptoms and tested positive. This is a clear marker for what is ahead with schools opening this week. Today we had six new cases and two were hospitalized. World wide we now have over 20 million confirmed cases."

1. Confirmed cases 352 – up 6
2. Active cases 21 – down 11
3. Probable cases 14 – up 1
4. Monitored 57 - down 8

5. Hospitalized 5 – up 2.  One remains in serious condition.
