Cameron Area Christian Services Thrift Shop reopens

The board and employees of the CACS send condolences to family and friends for a long time board member and vice president of CACS, Tense Tomlinson. Tense donated her time and efforts to help make the Thrift Shop what it is today. 

The Cameron Area Christian Thrift Store is pleased to announce that we have reopened the Thrift Shop for in person shopping, having returned to our regularly scheduled days and hours of operation. 

We are open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of every week from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Please come see us! 

Resale of donated household items and a great selection of clothing for adults and children at low prices. Bags of food are available at no charge. 

If you have questions or need help please come by and talk to our manager Betty McDonald. 

If you have donations for the Thrift Store you are encouraged to bring them by. We are currently accepting clothing, and especially need food items as we prepare for the fall season. Thanksgiving is not that far away! 

Anyone can mail a tax deductable donation to 300 South Houston Street, Cameron, TX 76520, or come by the Thrift Shop, which is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community-based organization which serves the needy of the area. 

The Thrift Store board of directors met on Monday, Aug. 10, at 5 p.m. in the Family Life Center of the Cameron First United Methodist Church. Manager’s reports and financial summaries from June and July were presented. 

Donations from the last two months came from First Baptist Church of Cameron, All Saints Episcopal, Christian Fellowship Church, First Presbyterian Church, and First Baptist Church Care Share. It was reported a total of seven volunteers assisted during June and July. If you’d like to volunteer, just go by the Thrift Shop see the manager and they’ll put you to work! 

Officers for the 2020-21 were nominated during this meeting as well, and will be voted on at our next meeting in September. Nominations include: Alan Wood for president, Reverend Charles Harrison and Lisa Condry for both vice president positions, Sue Foster for secretary and Marie Kortis for treasurer. 

Please remember the Thrift Shop has many other items besides clothing and food. Come by and shop our selection of used furniture, CDs, DVDs, and books, jewelry and other interesting treasures!

The Thrift Shop board of directors will meet again, Monday, Sept. 14, at 5 p.m. at the Cameron First United Methodist Church Family Life Center.
