Yoe football game against Lexington cancelled
Cameron ISD has released that due to conditions related to COVID-19 the Yoe High football game has been cancelled for this Friday, Sept. 18, against Lexington.
In a release from CISD Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles said that in an effort to ensure the health and safety of the district’s student athletes the varsity football team will not be participating in its game on Sept. 18.
The varsity football program will suspend its activities and operations for the remainder of the week.
Sprinkles said that due to separate locker rooms and minimal contact between the varsity and sub-varsity football teams, the junior varsity and freshmen games against Lake Belton will continue to be played on Thursday night.
Sprinkles asks that everyone continue to follow the district’s website and social media pages for any updates.
A student athlete tested positive for COVID-19 that was on the campus of Yoe High on Friday, Sept. 11.
On Monday, Coach Tommy Brashear announced that high school football practices would be shut down to do a deep clean of the entire field house, due to a student athlete testing positive for COVID-19.
The COVID-19 positive student athlete and all students determined to have been in close contact with the positive student have been quarantined.
